Presented in Venice during the 2021 Architecture Biennale, Striatus is the first-of-its-kind 3D Concrete Printed bridge. Designed by Block Research Group and Zaha Hadid Architects in collaboration with incremental3D, it is made possible by Holcim's custom-made TectorPrint ink. Striatus establishes a new language for concrete that is digital, environmentally advanced and circular by design. The footbridge holds together solely through compression, with no reinforcements, applying computational design and 3D printing, for minimal material use and maximum strength.
[Music] what we're trying to do here is we're trying to demonstrate that perhaps we have forgotten some essential knowledge in the past and that is to design for very hard constraints [Music] i think the constraint is that we have only one planet so that we have to basically build significantly more responsibly [Music] this is the new language of concrete and how we will be building in the future for me most exciting is they have selected to make a bridge with this technology we can make a skyscraper we can make residential [Music] housing it's beautiful and that's why i'm so so proud that we are a partner in this project with such a beautiful object in 3d printing [Music] so you need to also have high design high engineering fabrication intelligence and knowledge but all the way to logistics on on the construction site all of that needs to be taken into account in order to really disrupt and to be different [Music] you
